🚘 Learning to Drive
How many lessons will I need?
Research shows that, on average, it takes people 45 hours of driving lessons with a driving instructor plus 22 hours of private practice to pass their test. But those who manage 100 hours of driving lessons plus practice are much safer on the road after their test. Every learner is different. We’ll assess your progress regularly.
Can I take lessons in my own car?
Yes, if it’s insured for learner drivers and meets legal requirements. L plates and a mirror for the instructor (amazon sell them cheap enough and they just stick on and can be easily removed)
What areas do you cover?
We cover Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy and surrounding areas. Full list can be found on our booking page. If you don’t see your town listed but you can travel to one of our locations then that’s fine.

🛑 Driving Test
When should I book my Driving Test?
Your instructor will let you know when you’re approaching the standard required for test.
How will I know I’m ready?
Your instructor will conduct a mock test with you after they are satisfied you’ve covered all the required modules of learning and can manage them confidently on your own without help or making any mistakes.
How do I book my Driving Test?
We advise going through the main DVSA website, the cost of booking the test is £62. Additional car hire costs are payable on the day if you take your instructors car.
Can I use an Instructor’s car for test?
We do hire our cars out for use on test but there are conditions; you must be ready, passing mock test (sometimes two) is a strict requirement. You can read more about this on our Driving Test page.
If I can’t take an instructors’ car what are my options?
There’s typically two reasons why an instructor couldn’t or wouldn’t give you their car; they’re not available that day/time or you aren’t able to pass a mock test. If you weren’t ready we’d strongly recommend rescheduling your test until you were driving at test standard.
Can I take the test without an Instructor?
Yes, there’s no requirement to have a driving instructor with you on the day of the test. You can take your own car proving it meets the standard requirements set out by the DVSA. You can borrow or hire a car as long as you have valid insurance.
